[ In some way, what Hal is saying is correct, and maybe that's why it is just rubbing salt into the wounds Dirk already inflicts upon himself. Yeah, he's not socially adapted enough to know how to simply get to know people. Yes, his relationship with Jake was a failure and he would like to be with somebody else. But who, really? He's hesitant to search so actively for something like that as well because, like Jake, he probably will ruin everything for that person too. After all, that's what his title does. A "Prince of Heart" is essentially a "destroyer of relationships." The more Dirk can grasp and accept this part about his personality, the easier his life may be. Was he ready to try and date again?
