[ At that, he idly swings their hands a little as they make their way to dinner. After dinner and tea, the sun has gone down, but Dirk finds that he does not want to go back to the base right away. The sights and sounds of Neo Tokyo are more than anything he could have imagined, and experiencing what he had dreamed about first hand has really made him happy.
Both heart and belly full, Dirk insists on a walk through the gardens nearby. Although half of the plants are artificial, mixed with the neon lights of the city, it's a nice spot that feels a lot more quiet compared to the rest of the city. He stops at one of the bridges over a koi pond with some food for the fish, idly dropping the pellets into the water.
One thing he notices is not all of the koi fish are real. Some are robotic, but convincing enough. Dirk catches on right away, though. ]
[Yugamu definitely tried to feed Dirk as much as possible. He almost forgot to eat himself. He's practically vibrating that Dirk wanted to KEEP hanging out after that. This date is going so well he thinks probably!!! This is the most normal date he's ever had. He peers down at the fish. It's still a novelty to him how many animals are just Around in this world. Even if some are robotic.]
Do you think the fish can tell? I hope they treat them as one of their own and all get along.
[ Meanwhile, Dirk also thinks the date is going well. Suspiciously so. Perceptive as ever, he can tell that Yugamu is having a good enough time; Dirk has a hard time trusting all of this because surely, surely there is something undesirable about him that Yugamu has noticed. Right?
Ironically enough, there's plenty of fish back home for Dirk. Too many. Aquatic life is almost all that is left.
He drops off the last few pellets into the water and leans over the bridge slightly to observe. ]
I bet so. Koi fish have a great memory and can even recognize faces. That's why they surface to the pond when they see a person. They associate us with food.
[ He pulls his gaze from the water to regard Yugamu, and then, he offers him one of his rare but gentle smiles. ]
[Fish memories... When Dirk turns his head, Yugamu does as well. A smile!!! A really nice one.... He commits it to memory.]
I'm glad. Even if... even if you don't feel the same about me, I wanted you to know how much I care about you. And I wanted to give you an experience you won't forget. That way even if you find someone else or if I die... You won't forget me.
[At the end of the day... Whatever makes Dirk happy is fine with him. But he still has that selfish desire to leave his mark.]
[ Orange eyes trace over Yugamu's face, studying what he can to get as much information as he can. Both water and bright lights reflect off of pale skin, and the way that the other teen's voice travels to his ears indicates both sincerity and nervousness. Was Yugamu feeling a similar way that Dirk was? That maybe he didn't have a chance? What made Yugamu lack confidence in that way? For Dirk, he had already scared off someone he liked, but as far as he can tell, it's quite the opposite this time with Yugamu. There was a same level of interest happening between them. He could see that.
He closes the distance between them, a hand curling under Yugamu's chin and holding him there for a moment. ]
[ Perhaps he should say something else, but he never was really good at romantic words or anything like that. Perhaps he should reassure Yugamu somehow, but he wasn't sure what else to do besides act instinctively. It was much easier to act instead of speak.
So he does, his head dipping down, hot breath exchanged between their space before he seals his lips over Yugamu's, giving him a warm kiss. It lasts for just a brief moment, but for Dirk, it feels longer.
As he pulls back, the pad of his thumb runs along the little piercing under his lip. ]
Impress me again on another date and we can do more than just kiss.
[unsurprisingly, Yugamu short circuits again. Not just out of embarassment this time, though. It's a much more complicated feeling. Or rather, tangled mass of feelings. Primary is excitement. Dirk kissed him. He initiated!! It felt nice. Even nicer than kisses he'd had before, even though it was arguably not as sexy as ones he's had before. That closeness, even brief, that he'd cautiously and diligently chased after, finally awarded to him.
But also... What if Dirk is just placating him? What if he just felt like he owed that much after being spoiled?? What if he's just leading him on? No, Dirk wouldn't do that, Dirk isn't like that! What kind of horrible person is he for thinking that?? And besides, what reason does Dirk have to keep him on the hook? Dirk has god powers, he doesn't need someone like Yugamu. What does he possibly have to offer Dirk? No, no that's silly. His companionship is something Dirk values, right? Somehow???]
[But also: "Impress me again"??? No that cannot stand. What would mother say if she heard he let that lead him around by the nose? He has to push back. He can't be a total pushover. Dirk sees the romance of sparring. He'll understand.
Yugamu composes himself, and smiles before dragging a finger down from Dirk's bare neck to tug at his kimono.]
If by that kiss you mean to say you're serious too... I think next time it's your turn to impress me.
[ For Dirk, he is wanting to see someone put forth an effort, and Yugamu has done more than enough of that as it is. Enough to impress him. Combatting with an invitation for Dirk to impress him is a play he hadn't seen coming.. and he likes that a lot too.
His smile reappears, though it's a little lopsided and more playful. He reciprocates the touch by snaking both of his arms around the other boy. ]
Okay. You got yourself a date. Give me a couple of days. You can wait a little, yeah?
